  • 1. Committee Unity and Humility

    • Pray for Oneness: Ask God to remove personal preferences, agendas, and disagreements so the team can function with one heart and mind.

    • Spiritual Cleansing: Pray that committee members maintain humble, pure hearts before God.

    2. Wisdom and Discernment

    • Evaluate Candidates: Pray for keen spiritual insight as the team reviews resumes, conducts interviews, and listens to sermons.

    • Identify Needs: Ask God to clearly reveal the unique traits, gifts, and characteristics your congregation needs in its next leader.

    3. Spiritual Warfare and Protection

    • Guard Against the Enemy: Searching for a pastor is a significant spiritual battle. Pray for a hedge of protection around committee members, their families, and their marriages.

    • Prevent Rushed Decisions: Pray for the patience to move at God's pace, resisting any pressure to rush the process.

    4. Preparation of the Future Pastor

    • Confirm the Call: Pray that the future pastor and their family have absolute certainty and peace about being called to your church.

    • Equip the Pastor: Pray that the incoming leader is a faithful disciple-maker who is spiritually prepared for the specific season your church is in.

    5. Unity of the Congregation

    • Church Support: Pray that the entire church body maintains an attitude of love, patience, and support toward the committee.

    • Trust in God: Pray that the church uses this transitional period to draw closer to Christ as the true head of the church.

  • As a member of Seagrove Baptist Church. May we support our church during this transition time.

    1. Prayer- Our prayer is a MUST! It is not an option for us as members of Seagrove, without the Holy Spirit guiding our church and committee we are doing this all in vain. So make sure to take time to pray.

    2. Presence - Our presence is important during this time, we understand we all have schedules, vacations, and to do lists. But we need to be present with other believers. Make a commitment to be present at Bible study and worship during this transition time.

    3. Purpose - Our purpose is still the same even if we are in transition. This purpose of reaching our community and around the world with the Gospel takes a financial commitment. So we must continue to give our financial support during this time.

  • How long will the process take?

-Typically the average time is 18 months to 24 months.

How does the church operate without a Lead Pastor?

-The church has a ministerial staff that handles the day to days with volunteers and committees.

How do I submit a resume?

-There is a link on this page for resume submission. We are working with a search firm “Aaron & Hur” to help us with this part of the process. So please submit your resume directly through the link only. Do not send a resume to our church office, we will refer you to the link provided.

How do we get a new Lead Pastor?

-The search committee will recommend 1 candidate at a time to the church after a unanimous vote of the committee. The church will then conduct a vote by secret ballot, where the candidate has to receive 90% of the membership present and voting. This vote will be after an “In view of a call” weekend. Which is a weekend designed to introduce the candidate to the church and also have him preach on a Sunday morning.

Our Search Committee Process

Committee Organization

The Committee organizes with leadership, training, and gathering key information that will be used during the process.

Receive Resumes & Format Information

The Committee will set the profile of the church and provide that to Aaron & Hur for them to use as a guide for sorting through the mass of resumes received. They will format vital information for Aaron & Hur as well as the pastor candidates to use once it is time in the process.

Resume Sorting & Interviews

The Committee will receive a number of resumes to review, evaluate, and pray through as they get to the top candidates. The committee will then begin interviews that may consist of online questionnaires, video conference calls, and in person interviews.

In View of Call Weekend & Vote

The Committee will come to a place with a candidate that they have unanimously agreed is the recommended candidate to present to the church. They will plan and promote a weekend of different activities for the candidate to be introduced to the church. This typically will involve meet and greet times, the sharing of his personal testimony and calling to ministry, and him preaching on a Sunday morning. Then the following Sunday after this weekend, the church will have a special called business meeting after the service to vote on the candidate that the Search Committee has recommended to them for consideration.

Resume Submission

We are working with the search firm Aaron & Hur. Please click on the link below and follow the instructions that are provided in the link for submitting a resume for consideration. The listing is “Senior Pastor Seagrove Baptist Church”.
